It should be entitled what AREN'T you eating? That list would be short! I love all of your food tales...hate the hot temps! I can't wait to try some more French rose...I found a gem of a bottle two weeks ago from Bordeaux (not rose, but SO GOOD) and never the headache from the sufites! Cheers you two!

I must confess it's difficult to sympathize with your summer heat issues. It's currently 95 degrees here in Pleasant View, Tenn., but we do have air conditioning, so there's that. One of my jack @$$ brothers-in-law is a sommelier, and I've heard him pontificate on the quality, or lack thereof, of rosé in the U.S. Enjoy your trip to Corsica. Do they have a statue of Napoleon there? Take care.

Haha, this is such a great comment. I don't want anyone's sympathy about the heat--we've been very lucky so far with generally mild weather! This week it should be changing, but we'll thankfully be at the beach by then.

I haven't heard a good jackass BIL story in a while, so this one made me laugh, thanks for that. I must say I'd have to agree with him if I heard his pontifications, though.

I'll take a picture of every napoleon statue I see and then put them all in a photo gallery on following post. I feel like it's going to be kind of like Christopher Columbus references/houses/statues, where every single town in the Mediterranean claims him in some way or another. Any bets as to the final tally of statues?

I'm betting that there will be more Columbus statues than Napoleon, but there will be plenty of both.

yum yum yum! What is terrine like? I've never had it :). Have a great trip!

This might sound unappealing at first, but terrine is a cooked, loaf-shaped meat dish, the OG meatloaf, if you will!

It's not smooth/fine like paté but it is soft enough to cut with a butter knife and then you eat it with bread or pickles, or both, or anything else. Some friends like it with chips. It's in the same family as patés and rillettes (smearable meat, also delicious). It's often a mix of several meats or cuts, and it is a true French staple that you find in most butchers and market stalls that sell meat. It's common as an appetizer or during apéro :)

I drink rosé all summer now with no afterthoughts! I prefer the paler, lighter ones. I agree, there has been a lot of progress made.

Yes, I love the paler ones too. We had a couple of really full, pink ones not too long ago that were very surprising because they were still so crisp and not too sweet. We've been very surprised with our rosé about face...and very impressed with what we've been missing!

Well, this made me hungry! I would teleport myself there right now for some French Rosé, if able. Love you and miss you!
